Expertise across development, environment and engineering

Niamh leads NMK Renewables’ renewable energy development activities, including the North Channel Wind offshore projects, and the company’s advisory and consulting work.

She began her career in economic and regional development, becoming CEO of Blackwater Resource Development at the age of 26, and worked across European and national programmes including LEADER, EQUAL and INTERREG. In 2004 she established Exodea Consulting, building a practice around research, innovation and renewable energy. That work included securing approximately €8 million for the TIDES tidal energy demonstration project in Northern Ireland and supporting other marine renewable initiatives including DEMOWIND. She has also acted as an EU Horizon 2020 evaluator.

Niamh subsequently moved into large-scale renewable energy development, with experience spanning project acquisition, joint ventures, commercial negotiation, development, investment and operation. At DP Energy she led the team responsible for assembling a circa 3 GW offshore wind development portfolio in the Republic of Ireland.

She is a Board Member of NIMO (Northern Ireland Maritime & Offshore), the industry body representing and supporting the maritime and offshore sectors in Northern Ireland, giving her direct engagement with companies across offshore wind, marine engineering, ports and supply chains.

Andy is the Project Developer for NMK Renewables, focusing on property and grid management. Andy brings over 40 years energy industry experience to our projects, working for over 30 of those years in Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE). In the 1990s he managed the NI Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation (NI NFFO) and subsequently the NI Renewables Obligation (NIRO).

In 2003 he established Action Renewables – a joint venture between NIE and the then Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment – and was the Managing Director and CEO until 2011. He then joined international engineering consultancy, AECOM as a Grade 1 Director in the Belfast Office. Andy subsequently established his own renewables consultancy company, Renewables Connect, working on a range of gas and renewables projects.

This included acting as the NI manager of onshore wind development company Windy Fields for several years. He has also managed contracts in gas, landowner services, project economics, PPAs, contract and consultant management. Andy is a recognised renewables expert and environmentalist and was awarded an MBE for services to the electricity industry.

Gerry Kelleher is responsible for managing all of the accounting functions for NMK Renewables including annual returns, payroll, cashflow and budgeting. Gerry has joined NMK Renewables from the manufacturing industry.

He was previously Financial Controller and General Manager with Homa Pumps, a German industrial with branches globally. Gerry had responsibility for the Irish operations, including processing, operations, exports and financial management.

Catherine is an energy and construction major projects expert and chartered engineer with a track record of delivering complex international projects. She is Head of Global Accounts for AIS, an interior office design and build specialist company, delivering projects in 25 countries globally. She consults on renewable energy projects across Europe.

Prior to AIS, Catherine was CEO at Quad Central, the first LEED platinum rated development in Malta.

Catherine also led the "LNG to Power" project in Malta, a ground-breaking project which introduced natural gas as fuel for electrical generation for the first time to Malta, having worked for over ten years in the gas and renewable energy sector in Ireland.
